Bruno Guimaraes believes Newcastle teammate is an 'amazing player'

Bruno Guimaraes was the star of the show for Newcastle United against Wolves.

The Brazilian started for the first time at St James’ Park, having previously been reduced to substitute appearances.

But an injury to Joe Willock gave Bruno the chance to start, and he took it with both hands.

The 24-year-old was Newcastle’s man of the match, as the Magpies moved further away relegation danger. Eddie Howe’s side are now 10 points clear of the bottom three.

Bruno is receiving all of the plaudits for his performance, but the midfielder has hailed one of his teammates following the victory.

Bruno Guimaraes praises Matt Targett after Wolves win

Following the win, Toon defender Matt Targett took to Twitter to celebrate.

Bruno responded to his teammate’s tweet, writing: “Amazing player.”

A short but sweet message from Bruno, but he couldn’t be more right.

Targett joined Newcastle in January on loan from Aston Villa, and has proven to be a real hit. The left-back has been excellent for the Magpies, and will hopefully join the club permanently this summer.

Most fans will surely agree with Bruno’s message to Targett. While the Brazil international was sensational against Wolves, it was another strong team performance overall. Targett played his part – although he was rarely tested by Wolves winger Francisco Trincao.

Bruno and Targett linked up time and time again on Friday night, with the former dictating play and spreading possession from left to right.

The 26-year-old defender is certainly an ‘amazing player’, and every impressive performance makes it all the more strange that Villa allowed him to leave.
