Bruno delivers Instagram message to Joelinton after battering Spurs

Joelinton won the Premier League Player of the Match award for his performance against Tottenham on Sunday, and it was exactly what he deserved for an outrageously good display.

Eddie Howe changed Joelinton‘s position, moving him to the left of Newcastle‘s front three in place of Anthony Gordon. That allowed Sean Longstaff to return to the middle of the park.

It was a decision that immediately paid off, with Bruno Guimaraes spraying a pass out to Joelinton, who drifted inside and fired a shot towards goal. It was saved by Hugo Lloris, but Jacob Murphy was on hand to score the rebound.

Minutes later and Joelinton was involved again. He timed a run in behind to perfection, and was picked out exquisitiely by Fabian Schar. The Brazilian’s first touch was extraordinary, then he showed composure to go round the goalkeeper and score his seventh of the season.

It is the 26-year-old’s best ever season in front of goal for Newcastle, and he took his goal on Sunday like the striker we thought he was supposed to be.

Joelinton then morphed back into the enforcer in the second half, playing in the middle when Bruno was taken off. The £40million man showed the other side to his game, completely dominating the midfield battle with his power.

It was a spectacular performance on a spectacular day, and he received praise from his fellow countryman after the game.

Bruno and Willock hail Joelinton’s performance against Spurs

Following the 6-1 win, Joelinton took to Instagram to deliver a message alongside pictures of him celebrating.

The Toon number seven received multiple replies, one of which was from Bruno.

He wrote: “What a player.”

Willock also weighed in, adding: “So good.”

‘What a player’ is the only way to describe Joelinton this season. He has been absolutely out of this world, and proven that he is not just a flash in the pan. The level he has played at has been incredible, while he has also shown great versatility.

He has played in multiple roles, and thrived in them all. Sunday was a special day filled with high quality performances, and his was the best of the lot. That is a tremendous achievement, and Joelinton deserves all the praise that is coming his way.
