Alexander Isak scored his ninth and 10th goal for Newcastle United on Sunday, and both were spectacular finishes.

The first goal from Isak is getting all of the headlines, simply because of Joe Willock’s assist. The pass with the outside of his boot was outrageous, and led to him being compared to Luka Modric.

It was followed up by a special finish from the club record signing, and he was at it again just moments later.

Isak scored Newcastle‘s fourth and fifth goals in quick succession, and the 23-year-old was absolutely delighted with the buildup before his second strike.

Isak delighted with ‘beautiful’ second goal against Tottenham

After the game, Isak spoke to NUFC TV. He ensured Willock got all the praise for his first goal, but he was also extremely pleased with his second.

“I wanted the hat-trick today but unfortunately not,” he said.

“That goal [his second] as well was beautiful. I haven’t watched it again but at that moment it felt like great team play and finished off with a goal.”

Another brilliant Newcastle move

Isak’s immediate reaction was right, it really was a beautiful goal. It all started with Isak dropping deep to receive a ball from Kieran Trippier. He did that brilliantly all game. He then found Murphy out wide with runners ahead of him.

The pass down the channel from Jacob Murphy was excellent, then Sean Longstaff did brilliantly to find Isak. It looked for all the world that Longstaff was going to fizz a ball across the box and into the danger area, but he was cuter than that. The local lad produced a deft reverse pass into the striker’s path, then it was all about his close control.

The 23-year-old took two elegant touches with his right foot then powered an effort past the helpless Hugo Lloris.

Newcastle’s movement off the ball was outrageous in the first half, and this goal summed it up best. It was all one and two touch stuff, with Tottenham unable to to stop the rampant Magpies.

It won’t get the headlines, but it really was a beautiful team goal that will have massively pleased Eddie Howe.
