Newcastle United have recorded their third Premier League win of 2021/22, beating Everton 3-1 at St. James’ Park.
The Magpies put in an absolutely superb display.

Newcastle fell behind thanks to a very unlucky own goal, but got straight back on level terms with Jamaal Lascelles forcing an own goal at the other end.
Ryan Fraser got Newcastle ahead in the second-half after brilliant work by the imperious Allan Saint-Maximin.
The Scotland international turned in the Frenchman’s cross for his first goal of the season.

Newcastle will survive easily if such work-rate can be replicated
Newcastle will have far sterner tests than Everton in the coming months.
But if the Magpies can play as they did tonight, then there will surely be nothing to worry about.
It was a truly fantastic display that mixed attacking football with fantastic work-rate from everybody.

Matt Targett looked absolutely solid on his debut, and Joe Willock was magnificent in midfield. And of course, Saint-Maximin was at his very best, and the crowd were electric.
The performance and result will hopefully provide huge confidence going forwards.
