It’s been seven years to the day since former NUFC striker Papiss Cisse scored that wonder goal against Chelsea, and Toon fans have spent the day reminiscing in it’s glory.

On 2nd May 2012, Newcastle travelled to Stamford Bridge for a Premier League fixture they were not expected to get a result in.

Chelsea were easy favourites for the clash, and were awaiting finals in the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.

The Magpies however were the surprise package of the season in 2011/2012, and were still attempting to snatch a fourth-place finish.

And against the odds, they kept their top four hopes alive with a remarkable performance.

They secured a shock 2-0 victory over The Blues that night, with Cisse the star of the show.

The forward scored a phenomenal brace of volleys, stunning both Chelsea and football fans around the world.

His first was a masterclass in technique, allowing Newcastle to take a surprise lead.

The Senegalese sensation flicked up a Davide Santon cross with his right foot before firing home with his left.

However unbelievably, this great goal has been almost completely forgotten because of his next goal.

His second of the evening was so good, it will probably come to define Cisse’s entire career.

A bizarre curving volley from an outrageous angle, it immediately went down in Premier League history.

It seemed to defy the laws of physics, and Toon fans have been quick to pay tribute to one of the club’s greatest ever strikes.
