Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has said that what we saw of him this season is just a glimpse of what he can do.
That’s a statement that’s sure to send a tingle down the spine of all of the defenders in the Premier League after what he’s done this season.
Everton‘s defence are still looking for Isak after he turned them all inside-out and upside down at Goodison Park on 27th April.
Newcastle’s Isak says the English game suits him well
Speaking to The Times, Alexander Isak has said there’s more to come, saying: “It was my first season so, for sure, it’s only a glimpse of what I can do.
“But I feel like English football suits me very well. It’s fast, high-tempo, attacking, and physically demanding as well, which is something I enjoy.”

Isak has definitely taken to life in the Premier League like a duck to water, scoring on his debut against Liverpool at Anfield and later having a goal incorrectly chalked off for offside by VAR.
Newcastle fans were made to wait an excruciatingly long time to see their record signing in action for any prolonged period of time having arrived carrying a niggle. Eddie Howe decided it was best to keep Isak out of the squad while he fully recovered, so he missed 11 games after featuring just three times.
However, when he returned, the 23-year-old picked up where he left off and by the end of the season he’d racked up 10 goals in 22 appearances, and in the aforementioned Everton game was criminally denied credit for the assist of the season.
He beat the Everton defence with ease and played the ball across the face of goal for Murphy to poke home from close range, but because the pass took a deflection which directed it to Jacob Murphy, the assist wasn’t credited to Isak. However, all the celebrations were his and goal scorer, Murphy made sure of that fact.
The idea that we’ve still not seen what Isak is capable of is beyond exciting for Newcastle fans and must be terrifying for the rest of the league.
Isak has been compared to Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The comparisons to Thierry Henry are fully justified and Isak himself is happy to hear it telling The Times: “Henry’s the player I admired growing up, so I can’t complain,” he says, chuckling. “I enjoyed that one. They know me in England better now.”
It’s not just Thierry Henry he’s been compared to as he now has to fill the enormous boots of Zlatan Ibrahimovic for his national side, Sweden, being named as the heir-apparent to his throne at just 16.
I can’t wait to see him back in action next year after a full pre-season with Eddie Howe and with the new additions we bring in supporting him too.
