Newcastle United youth prospect Joe White is set for another loan spell away from St James’ Park.
According to journalist Lee Ryder, Joe White is set to join Crewe Alexandra on loan from Newcastle United.
This will mark the 20-year-old’s third temporary spell away from Tyneside. White had a stint with League Two side Hartlepool United for the second half of the 2021/22 campaign, and was with League One outfit Exeter City for the second half of last season.
The young attacking midfielder was able to play regularly for both clubs, but is yet to score his first goal in senior football; a situation which he has admitted has caused him some frustration, in an interview with Chronicle Live.
White went on to say that he learned a great deal from his previous loan spells, and that he felt he had managed to get out of his “comfort zone.” These experiences will help to develop White as a person and a player.

Does White have a future at Newcastle?
If his move to Crewe Alexandra does go through, White will be returning to League Two football, and will be determined to improve and establish himself as a stand out player at that level.
Whether he has any long term future at Newcastle remains to be seen, and is somewhat doubtful given his age and the fact the Magpies are now a Champions League chasing side, but a particularly strong loan stint could see White creep into Eddie Howe’s thoughts. Newcastle clearly haven’t given up hope on him, as they handed the former England under-18 international a new three-year contract last year.
For now, though, the talented youngster needs to focus on staying fit and performing consistently to the best of his ability. His future beyond that, at Newcastle or elsewhere, will take care of itself.
