Bruno Guimaraes delivers message to Neymar after Brazil beat Serbia

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has hailed teammate Neymar after Brazil kicked off their World Cup in style.

Tite’s side beat Serbia 2-0, thanks to a brace from Tottenham forward Richarlison. His second goal was particularly spectacular, with an overhead kick putting the result beyond doubt.

It was a good night for Brazil, but a bittersweet one for Bruno. It was his first ever appearance at a major tournament, but he was an unused substitute. The 25-year-old watched on as the likes of Casemiro, Lucas Paqueta and Raphinha got the job done.

Newcastle’s number 39 wasn’t downbeat when he took to Instagram after the game though, and he also sent a message to Brazil’s main man Neymar.

Bruno’s message to Neymar

It was a difficult night for Neymar. He was effectively kicked out of the game, and was forced off with an ankle injury. Brazilian fans are now hoping he is going to be fit and ready for the rest of the tournament.

Following the 2-0 win over Serbia, Neymar posted a couple of pictures from the game for his 184million followers on Instagram, and admitted that it had been a ‘difficult’ night.

He wrote: “Difficult game but important win. Congrats team, first step taken… 6 to go.”

The image was ‘liked’ by Toon players Joelinton and Miguel Almiron, while there were responses from Philippe Coutinho, Vinicius Junior, Richarlison and many more.

And one response came from Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes. He simply wrote: “Genius.”

It must be a real joy for Bruno to play alongside Neymar. The PSG man is one of the best players on the planet, and he’s currently spending time with a lad who regularly plays alongside Sean Longstaff. Quite the step down in quality for Bruno…

Joelinton gave Bruno a job to do

Since the takeover, there have always been jokes about Neymar coming to St James’ Park. There was even a bogus claim that Newcastle were going to make a move for the 30-year-old during the summer.

Of course, that was absolute nonsense, but Neymar has been offered the chance to join the Magpies – by Joelinton.

Newcastle’s midfield general was on a Brazilian podcast a few months ago, and told Neymar that he is more than welcome to join him on Tyneside. Joelinton then jokingly added that he’ll get Bruno to send him a message.

Well now Bruno is with Neymar in Qatar. I wonder if he’s mentioned how many nice bridges we have in Newcastle, or how good Nick Pope is.
