Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing 19-year-old striker Jan Carlos Hurtado. According to Grupa La Provincia, the Magpies are competing with Serie A side Atalanta for his signature.
The report states that Newcastle intend to make an offer for the youngster, who currently plays for Gimnasia in Argentina.

It’s fair to say that Hurtado is a bit of an unknown quantity; a player who most fans will never have heard of let, let alone seen play.
So if he does become a Newcastle player in the summer, what can we expect from Hurtado?

Acknowledging the rumour on Twitter, Coates described the Venezuelan forward as a ‘terrific prospect’.
Arango added to the Hurtado praise, believing he has a ‘boatload of potential’ despite still being a bit raw.
While far from the finished article, it sounds like Newcastle are targeting a player who has a big future in the game.
The teenager is already a Venezuela international, making his debut in March as a late substitute against Argentina.

Whether or not Salomon Rondon remains at the club, we need at least one striker this summer. Hurtado looks like a great option.
Hopefully he can be playing alongside his fellow countryman under the guidance of Rafa Benitez…
