Friday morning brought rumours that Manchester United want to sign Sean Longstaff.
That’s according to Sky Sports, who also reported last week that the Red Devils were closing in on Newcastle target Dan James.

Longstaff has had an incredible season, breaking into the first-team thanks to injury, taking his chance and solidifying himself as a Premier League player. He hasn’t looked out of place against some of the best around.
Injury ended his breakout season early, but he’ll be back in time for pre-season. And hopefully it’ll be at Newcastle.
The Chronicle have since reported that Newcastle have no intention to sell the 21-year-old, while Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has added that Longstaff is happy at the club.

Toon fans obviously want Longstaff to stay, as there’s nothing better than watching one of your own run out at St James’ Park.
You can spend all the money you want, but there’s something more special about a homegrown player donning the black and white stripes. It’s not something we’ve seen a lot of lately.
Fans felt the same about Alan Shearer. A local lad scoring goal after goal with the number nine on his back. And before he joined Newcastle for £15million, he turned down a move to Manchester United.

When Manchester United head to St James’ Park next season, expect to hear choruses of ‘Shearer turned you down’ AND ‘Longstaff turned you down’.
