Once again, Jonjo Shelvey has not been selected in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
The midfielder has never been part of the national team set up, despite many cries from supporters for his inclusion.
Shelvey has the passing expertise that is missing from England’s midfield, but Southgate is reluctant to call upon the 26-year-old.
Calls for him to be selected for the World Cup were ignored, which suddenly became laughable as pundits everywhere discussed England’s lack of a pass master in midfield.
But this time round, it’s no surprise that he hasn’t made the squad.
Shelvey has hardly been at his best so far this season, while players such as James Maddison have taken the Premier League by storm.
However, some Magpies fans still believe their man has been harshly treated considering some of the players that have been selected.
Ross Barkley has barely played for Chelsea, while Nathaniel Chalobah is just back from injury. As for Mason Mount, he’s playing in the Championship for Derby.
Newcastle fans react to Shelvey’s latest omission
It is disappointing that Shelvey hasn’t been given a chance in a 25 man squad. Given what #England need.
Clearly never gonna get a chance under Southgate. Must have rubbed him up the wrong way back in the youth teams.
Poor from Southgate tbh. #nufc

Can understand Jonjo Shelvey non-selection… not sure how Jamaal Lascelles gets overlooked everytime.
Dont even know a couple of players in that @England squad.

How can Chalobah and Barkley get in the @England squad but Shelvey can’t?🤔
