Liverpool fans were also buzzing on Tuesday night after Newcastle’s incredible victory.
While the Toon Army toasted a historic night at St James’ Park, Reds fans in the North West were also celebrating.

Manchester City are Liverpool’s closest title rival, and a defeat for Pep Guardiola’s men gives Jurgen Klopp another boost. Liverpool can now go seven points clear if they beat Leicester tonight.
What made City’s defeat even more special for Liverpool fans was that it was masterminded by their former manager.
Rafa Benitez has legend status at Anfield. He managed the club between 2004 and 2010, winning the Champions League and FA Cup.

The only man that wins Liverpool a Champions League and helps Liverpool at another club by putting 8 players in defence and also bringing on Javier Manquillo on as a sub for banter to beat Man City 😂 RAFA BENITEZ pic.twitter.com/wAdQ6E2AAx

If Liverpool do with the league. Rafa Benitez must surely deserve the medal too. Beating Man City with the squad Newcastle have has to be the result of the season against a team who has the best squad may be in Europe.

Benitez doing us a favour!
A win tonight would be huge.
Come on Liverpool!

A man who will always be on the hearts of @LFC fans – would love him to get @NUFC moving again – the guy deserves some credit – he took us so close – Macheda “never to be seen again” produced something for the other team so wasn’t to be – but hey Rafa Rafael Benitez

Survival all that matters for Newcastle
Newcastle fans won’t have been thinking about Liverpool when Matt Ritchie binned his penalty.
While it is a huge result for Klopp, we’re more concerned with goings on at the bottom of the table rather than the top.

The win over Manchester City is going to be huge between now and the end of the season. It should fill the players with confidence as they look to secure survival.
Benitez will be more interested in keeping Newcastle in the Premier League than helping his former employers win the title.
