Just as Newcastle fans were getting giddy about the prospect of signing Daniel James, that dream already seems to be over.
Earlier in the week, the Chronicle reported that the Magpies were interested in a move for the Welsh winger, who was valued at £10million.

James seemed like an attainable target; an exciting young player ready to make the step up to the Premier League at an affordable price.
The thought of him and Miguel Almiron bursting forward on the counterattack at a blistering pace created some excitement for Toon fans. But it looks like that won’t be happening.
Manchester United swoop in for James
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are in pole position to sign the Swansea man.

They have reported that the Red Devils are close to agreeing a deal worth £15million for the 21-year-old.
Just like Newcastle, Manchester United have a huge rebuilding job on their hands this summer. Their fans will be happy to see that they are moving quickly on the transfer front, and that’s exactly what Newcastle need to do as well.

But this is an early blow. James seemed like a very realistic target. However, it looks like he’ll be heading to Old Trafford rather than St James’ Park.
Is it the right move for the player? Can he get guaranteed minutes at Manchester United like he would get at Newcastle? That remains to be seen.
